About me

I started this blog because I had thoughts on the subject of User Interface Design I wanted to discuss and share with people, hoping I can provide useful and insightful resources to those who are kind enough to give me their time.

Though I am no usability scientists like Jakob Nielson and Jeffery Zeldman, I tend to think of UI in the philosophical sense and it extends beyond the computer. Many things have an UI. The door and its knob, a car and its steering wheel, a torchlight and its switch… all of which are interfaces. My goal is to explore the possibilities of how user interfaces can be made better in terms of functionality, aesthetics and emotions.

I have more than 5 years of experience in the creative field and I am a freelance Design Consultant at my own company AEN. I also work as the Lead Designer for SportsHook, an upcoming Sports Social Network where I do information architecture, UI and testing. I am also the UI Designer for Widgeous, where I design interfaces for applications so they are easy to understand and use. My clients include Yahoo! where I designed the interaction of a demo for one of their search products, SONY for which I designed interactive microsites for their digital cameras and recently The Miele Guide website for which I directed its visuals and user interaction.

I am deeply intrigued by centuries-old philosophy and modern science, which influence me greatly. When I read news, I usually look at science, technology, religion and art because these are what I feel will play a major part in shaping our future. I am also a devoted listener of Chopin, Ryuichi Sakamoto and Miles Davis, people who I believe are true artists without pretence, who are able to express beyond high levels of emotions and intellect.

When it comes to food, my favorites are Sashimi, Ramen, Tamago and Aglio Olio.
